NAACP Image Awards 2007
L'actualité s'emballe : on ne croyait pas vraiment que Prince pourrait gagner un autre award cette saison, que celui qu'on lui a généreusement donné pour The Song Of The Heart au Golden Globes.
Il semble cependant que le board du NAACP ait décidé de lui donner le 2 mars dernier ce lot de consolation (Outstanding Male Artist) afin de lui permettre de s'exprimer en ce début d'année (cliquez ici).

On y entend dans un premier temps Prince déclamer un texte en rimes qui ressemble étrangement à celui d'une nouvelle chanson sur le réchauffement climatique...
Puis il coupe court.

Et nous conte une scène de la vie princière ordinaire, ou comment, lors d'une rencontre avec des musiciens jazz très talentueux (qui lui ont été présentés par Tavis Smiley), il s'est trouvé bien plus honoré qu'eux de pouvoir les connaître (et hop, petite leçon d'humilité au passage, ça ne mange pas de pain).
Enfin, il conclut en se lançant dans une courte mais cinglante diatribe contre son nouveau cheval de bataille : les companies de téléphone et les providers de contenu de musique digitale.

Prince serait-il enfin prêt pour sortir du bois ?

Ladies & Gentlemen, last week Tavis Smiley introduced me to some really amazing jazz musicians. And as much as they were exited to meet me, I was more exited to meet them. Maybe because I wanted to give them something that, that they would cherish forever. All I can give them was : the stage and which I perform on.
And I would just challenge the phone companies and the new digital providers to allow us to be the gay keepers to stewart, new jazz renaissance, hip hop and soul music in the 21st century rather than the accountant and the lawers who've ruined the music industry this first sound around.
I just wanted to give U that food, and I hope I did not take 2 much of your time.
